Tracking

What is Tracking

Tracking is a tool in our action plan that allows us to follow the scent of your missing pet from the place (s)he got lost from, or the last sighting (which ever is most recent), to an area where they are likely to now be located. Tracking allows us to determine the direction of travel based on your pets most recent travels, where they have and have not been. As a result of the track, we are able to determine an area in which you will want to use the scent luring and posters. Being closer to your pets location will help make these other techniques more effective

Tracking...

  • is a tool used to provide information regarding your pets travels
  • allows us to establish a perimeter in which your pet has a probability of being located
  • allows us to move the food station, scent luring, and posters so they are for effective
  • requires a scent item that smells like your missing pet, something that has come within direct contact with them. (examples: bed, collar, harness, blanket, brush with fur, etc.)

Tracking is not:

  • typically the last step in reuniting you with your pet. We do not typically walk up on your pet
  • the right tool for every case
  • timeless. Since Bravo is an air scenter, he can track scents that are older than ground scenters. Bravo has been trained to follow scents up to two weeks old, however the more time that lapses before a track the more the scent will deteriorate

Scent Item - In the event that a track is needed we want to preserve a scent item that smells like your pet. We do this by placing an item that your pet has been in contact with (preferrably has not contacted any other animals) into an unscented bag, seal it and if possible place it in the freezer. Some examples of good scent items are a collar, harness, crate mat, blanket, bed, etc. If your scent item has the scent of multiple animals on it, please speak to us. It may still be useful, depending on the acitviities/territory of your pets.

If your item cannot be moved, you can put your hand in a bag like your were picking up dog waste. With your hand covered pickup some cotton balls, gauze, makeup rounds and run the cotton all over the surface of the item. This will pick up fur and your pets scent on the cotton. Place the cotton in the bag, seal it, and store the cotton in the freezer.

Missing Pet?

We are sorry to hear your pet has gone missing. You have certainly found your dog in Bravo, he has tracked many pets from dogs, cats, turtles, reptiles, you name it.

Please send us your pets information so that we can get started on helping you get reunited (no cost or obligation). This form will give us all of the pertinent information we need to be able to assess the situation and make an action plan. Once we receive your form we will be in touch and we will get you going on the right path to getting your friend back.
